About Dr. Connell

I'm a Clinical Psychologist licensed in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and California. As a DC native, I grew up on the East Coast before moving to California after college. I received my psychological training in California, at the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, where I studied both Integrative Psychotherapy and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. I gained clinical experience at the UCSD Center for Mindfulness, UCSD Moores Cancer Center, Center for Applied Psychological Services, Jewish Family Service Counseling Center, Catholic Charities Counseling Center, Psychological Health Center, and several private practices.
I have a solid foundation in outpatient mental health, incorporating both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral approaches, with a particular focus on mindfulness and Integrative mind/body coping skills. I have extensive experience working with adults and older adolescents in individual psychotherapy, and I specialize in treating issues of anxiety, social anxiety, self-esteem, depression, interpersonal relations, and emotional regulation.
Before attending graduate school in Clinical Psychology, I spent several years working in the animated television and film industry, where I coordinated the training and development of animators as well as coordinated voice-over recording sessions. I now enjoy incorporating my knowledge of creative industries to help patients who wish to increase their creativity and their personal effectiveness in the workplace.
Outside of the therapy office, I like to engage in my own self-care through yoga and meditation, socializing with friends and family, and singing and dancing. I truly enjoy my work as a psychotherapist, and I look forward to working with you.
